Could Gillian Anderson Be The Next James Bond?

Collection I Like To Watch

14done15is so serious that he turned down a £68 million offer from MGM to play 007 in two more films.

Of course, fans have taken to Twitter and elsewhere to talk about Next Bond. Unsurprisingly, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Tom Hardy, and Homeland's Damian Lewis remain fan-favorites for taking up the 007 mantle.

But the real surprise? Everyone on Twitter has decided that if they could cast anyone they want, they'd go with none other than Gillian Anderson.

Even more surprisingly, she not only didn't say no--she actively encouraged fans!

We don't know how likely it is that this will actually happen, of course. But we definitely think that if given the chance, Anderson could definitely pull off playing the world's most famous secret agent for one simple reason: She's already pretty much done it in #TheFall

A fan even took a still of Anderson's character from the series, Detective Superintendent Stella Gibson, and used it to mock up a 007 poster:

If you're not familiar with the series, it originally aired on BBC Two and streams exclusively on Netflix in the U.S. Two seasons are currently available to watch, with a third due out later this year. The series also stars Jamie Dornan in a role that would make the two people who liked him in 50 Shades of Grey cower in terror.

As a character, Gibson is relentless, calculating, sexually adventurous, unapologetic, badass, and damn good at her job. You definitely don't want to make her mad, because she will end you.

In other words, she'd make a perfect Jane Bond.

If you like suspenseful, thrilling dramas and you haven't caught up with The Fall, you can catch up with the first two seasons on Netflix now. The third season started shooting in Belfast in January 2016, and will air on BBC Two later in 2016, very soon after which it should hit Netflix.

This Next Bond option may or may not happen, but it's definitely fun to contemplate!

Be the first to like it!
