It's hard to believe that 17 years have passed since the tragic plane crash that took the life of Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy, John F. Kennedy, Jr., and Carolyn's sister Lauren.
But Bessette's style, and the controversy that surrounded her short life, remain.
Well before she married a Kennedy, Bessette was the woman responsible for launching Kate Moss through Calvin Klein in the 90's. Thus starting a major new trend in fashion.
Her wedding dress, created by former CK designer Narciso Rodriguez, continues to be replicated twenty years later.
Supposedly, she didn't photograph well, but we have to disagree. Her make-up as well as her 'throwaway chic' look continues to take our breath away.
She was a '90's icon, much the same as her mother in law, Jackie O. was for the 60's and 70's.
Unfortunately, the constant press and paparazzi scrutiny took a huge toll on Bessette. In many of the pics taken during that time, she seems evasive and aloof, adding to her intrigue. She declined interviews, and tried to dodge the camera as much as possible.
This style legend continues to live on, through the images that remain. Read more at Town and Country:
