Hawaii Is Planning To Increase The Smoking Age To 100

Well if you are a smoker and also if you are living in Hawaii this news will get your attention. If the law draft that prepared in Hawaii is approved people under the age of 100 will not be able to buy cigarettes. Yes you heard right 100.

Hawaii is the state with the most strict cigarette laws in the United States. In 2016, Hawaii became the first state to increase the age of cigarettes to 21. Now there is a preparation to take a step further. After 5 years you will have to be over 100 years old to buy cigarettes in Hawaii.

They are expecting to increase the age first up to 30 in 2020. This will be increased to 40 in 2021, 50 in 2022, 60 in 2023 and 100 in 2024. So if the bill is approved 5 years later, you will have to be 100 years old and over to buy cigarettes on the island. E-cigarettes, tobacco and cigars were excluded from the bill.

The bill is expected to be evaluated by parliament this week. The Democrat politician Richard Creagan, who is preparing the proposal, believes that the bill will pass and it will get the approval from the courts.
