Face it. There's funny business going on right in front of our eyes. And it's just starting to bubble to the surface. Every day, politicians, governments and the corporate-owned media are using words and images to gain support for their own benefit – to build power and make money for themselves. In the old days, even 20 years ago, the main mediums used to influence the masses were radio, network television, print newspapers, magazines, billboards, posters, and Hollywood films.

Today, of course, independent documentaries and films and the internet – including social media, short-form video content, live podcasts, apps, and original series on Netflix, Hulu, and the like – have taken center stage in reaching and influencing millions of people.
