The two leaders made the statement on the second day of a three-day summit, their third this year, as part of efforts with the United States to curb the threat of war on the Korean Peninsula, according to CNN.

At a media briefing on Wednesday after a signing ceremony, Kim and Moon vowed to bring lasting peace to the Korean Peninsula, something they first agreed to at their April summit.

The focus of the summit was denuclearization. While the US and North Korea agreed largely earlier this year to work toward that goal, talks have stalled.

North Korea has now sought to reconfirm its commitment.
