9. 'A living museum of Lanna culture'

“It’s a living #museum of Lanna #culture,” Chaleenuch Visith, the marketing director told me about this magnificent luxury #hotel.

#ChiangMai was the capital of the Lanna Kingdom in northern #Thailand from the late 13th to 16th centuries until #Burma conquered it, ruling for over 200 years and lending a strong #Burmese flavor to the distinctive Lanna #architecture, culture and food.

A #traditional #village market in Dhara Devi offers daily #arts and #crafts demonstrations, like bamboo weaving, flower arranging and paper-cutting.

Classical #Thai #dance is performed by delicately-featured women in brocaded tops and patterned skirts in one of its gourmet restaurants nightly, accompanied by #musicians on a hammer dulcimer, vertical fiddle and drum.

The #hotel offers #cooking classes, and an outdoor #theater offers #cultural performances.
