A dream come true

As a kid growing up in Texas I always saw Chevrolet El Caminos driving by. I promised to myself that one day I would have one. As I grew up, I kept thinking about the El Camino but I also started to notice the flaws in the design. I said to myself that I would figure out a way to clean one up and make it look the way it should have. I eventually got hold of a 1969 El Camino that was in good condition but in an extremely ugly puke green color. I put it away in storage till I could find the way to make my dream come true. In 2006 I crossed paths with the legendary Hot Rod Master Boyd Coddington. I asked him if he had ever done an El Camino and told him the ideas I had to improve it. He looked at me funny and didn't say a thing. I figured I had said something wrong and left. A week later I get a call from Boyd saying that he wanted to make my dream come true. Here is the outcome of out two creative minds coming togther. Starting from the original sketches of my vision.

The original 69 El Camino came with a 350 engine but I wanted something better so I opted for an LS1. It's still a 350, but with quite a bit more punch. :D
