We visited the Berkeley Art Museum in their stunning new building on Center Street last week. From the massive Art Wall upon entry to the spacious galleries to the sleek architectural details, the museum doesn't disappoint. I also love the extended hours - they are open until 9pm Wednesday through Sunday. #bampfa

We both loved the all-red stairwells, one of several interesting architectural choices.

And check out these triangular port holes on the second level, where you can spy on your fellow art-lovers in the galleries below.

Incredible woven sculptures by California artist Ruth Asawa.

In addition to contemporary art, there is a small collection of Buddhist art downstairs.

And of course, no museum visit is complete without a stop at the bookstore. Theirs included a well-edited collection of artist monographs, children's books and funky gifts.
