A study by the University of Michigan confirms that addiction to cheese is identical to the addiction one might have for drugs, alcohol or tobacco! This addiction is less severe, but is due to a protein found in all dairy products known as Caseïne. During digestion, the protein releases casomorphin, a molecule that has the effect of activating receptors in the brain associated with addiction. Think about this the next time you have that slice of Brie or Cheddar!
