All good things must come to an end. You might hate that phrase, and we don't blame you if you do. Sadly, that's what's about to happen to the reign of Lin-Manuel Miranda's portrayal of Alexander Hamilton on Broadway come July.
THR broke the news, citing the sheer number of projects Miranda has to work on in the coming months: his starring role as Bert in Mary Poppins Returns, that In the Heights film adaptation we told you about yesterday, and possibly even another musical. You definitely can't say Miranda's resting on his laurels.
So who's going to replace him on Broadway? Momentum for Hamilton doesn't look to be slowing anytime soon; that's for sure. Miranda's current understudy is Javier Muñoz, who already takes on the role every Sunday and any other time Miranda can't attend. He's definitely the logical man for the job.
It's worth noting that THR points out several actors in the cast have contracts expiring soon, and are reportedly aiming for significant pay raises or they may walk. With the acclaim and money that Hamilton continues to rake in, we certainly can't blame them.
We'll keep you posted once anything definite is announced.
