The solar-powered Skylock bicycle lock knows if you've had a bike accident

Author Topaz ?

The Skylock is a re-imagining of a simple product, the common bicycle U-lock. It illustrates how adding internet connectivity can give mundane products a whole host of new quality-of-life features.

This solar-powered lock connects to your local wifi to provide anti-theft notifications sent straight to your smartphone or computers. It also uses this connectivity to open the lock on your command, without the need for a key.

This auto-entry unlocking may be shared to other users via a simple phone ap, so you can share your bicycle with ease. Finally, the lock actively monitors your condition while riding, and can detect if you suffer an accident. Combined, these features provide considerable benefit of the traditional U-lock.
