November 11th has become a bit of a Black Friday for those who've served our country and rightfully so. Businesses line up to offer free meals, discounts and even free vacations to show their support of our country's protectors on Veteran's Day.
Here is a round up of deals that I've come across! I'll continue to add to the list as I come across anything new!
This GIANT list from Military Spouse Magazine is pretty comprehensive off all participants across the board:
One of the first Veteran's Day celebrations, that has now become a tradition, is Applebee's free meal for the service member. This year they're offering up 7 meals on their menu that the Veteran can get FREE!
“Applebee’s was one of the first restaurant chains in the country to honor our veterans and active service men and women by welcoming them into our restaurants across the country for a free meal on Veterans Day,” said Julia Stewart, chairman and CEO of Applebee’s parent company DineEquity, Inc. [NYSE: DIN] and president of Applebee’s. “This is a day our Applebee’s family looks forward to year in and year out. We are proud to be able to serve and honor the heroes in our neighborhoods who have sacrificed so much to protect the freedom of our great country.”
You can find all the details plus the 7 meals offered by Applebee's on Retail Salute! While you're there, enter their contest for a $25 Gift Card to Applebee's and save a little bit more while there.
Also, don't forget to send a message through Thank You Movement- a website sponsored by Applebees where you can leave Thank You notes for the troops. So far, over 9.3 million messages of gratitude have been left, and growing daily.
If you're in the need of vacation, you'll want to check out the Westgate Resorts and vy for your chance to be 1 of 1000 military families to get a free weekend at their Central Florida resort. Yep, a free vacation.
124For the sixth year
I have registered for the Westgate Vacation before, but wasn't able to attend due to deployment (go figure). However, I can tell you that it requires patience and lots of refreshing on your parts. It's always not been available at 9 a.m. sharp, slow moving and lots of website glitches. That doesn't mean it's not worth it... I'm just saying don't plan on breezing through the process.
A few things to keep in mind no matter where you plan to celebrate Veteran's Day or what deals your partake in, bring your Military ID! Remember: most deals are for THE VETERAN, not dependents. Do you research and know before you go!
Thanks to all the businesses who choose to celebrate our Troops each year!
