THE CAPITOL

My first acquaintance with Washington DC started with a sunset tour on an Old Town Trolley from Union Station that is absolutely worth taking on a nice warm evening. You get to see all the main historical monuments right away and even have some time to walk around. When it’s getting dark, all the monuments are lit up, which makes them look even more stunning.

ROOSEVELT MEMORIAL

“The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.” - Franklin D. Roosevelt

“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” - Eleanor Roosevelt

Franklin D. Roosevelt, 32nd President of the US.

I HAVE A DREAM...

“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” - Martin Luther King, Jr.

“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.” - Martin Luther King, Jr.

MARINE CORPS WAR MEMORIAL

It’s the largest bronze statue in the world. The memorial is dedicated to all the personnel of the United States Marine Corps who have died in the defense of the United States since 1775.

LINCOLN MEMORIAL

“The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time.” - Abraham Lincoln

“Whenever I hear anyone arguing for slavery, I feel a strong impulse to see it tried on him personally.” - Abraham Lincoln

THE WHITE HOUSE

The White House is under constant security day and night. But it’s possible to get close to the gates, take some photos and maybe even see the president’s helicopter landing or taking off.

WASHINGTON MONUMENT

“Liberty, when it begins to take root, is a plant of rapid growth.” - George Washington

“The Constitution is the guide, which I never will abandon.” - George Washington

NATIONAL WWII MEMORIAL

Each gold star represents one hundred American service personnel who died or remain missing in the war. Freedom Wall holds 4048 gold stars.

THE SUPREME COURT OF THE US

After a couple days of walking around, the city strikes you with its historical heritage at every step, great museums that you can visit for free, and how everything is being so well taken care of and maintained.
