Taking us outdoors, Rapa Nui Man marked the #constellations with a laser pointer, and showed how the poetic #imagination of #ancient peoples illuminated their sightings in the night #sky. 

Here in the Southern #Hemisphere, the sky looked different from the U.S. - no Big Dipper in sight. 

But we saw Sirius, the brightest #star in the sky, almost 25 times as luminous as our sun, despite being over eight light years away. (Light travels at over 186,000 miles per second; a light year is the distance light travels in a year).
