6) Sanur and Kuta with retirees and partiers

Another area we skipped after the first visit:  Sanur beach.

It's lined with hotels catering to pensioners from Great Britain. The blackened beaches were covered with beefy men half covered in the sand. Why do they do that?

The stalls lining the shore sell beach town junk.

For a change of pace we headed to #Kuta beach, a #surfing spot and the center of #Bali #nightlife.

During the day treeless Kuta is hotter than St Petersburg in August, so we usually got there just before sunset.

Once we checked out the #surfers at the crack of dawn. We had to stay up all night to do it. Big sacrifice!

During the day though, on the sand at Kuta,we were swamped by sellers of drinks, massages and hair plaiting. The miracle was slipping.
