7. 20 weeks on the road, and on the links

He’s on the road from February to September in what amounts to a seven-day-a-week job. “If you’re playing good, you might get a couple weeks off here or there. I’ve gone 15 or 20 weeks on the road,” he says.

Although the traveling sounds exciting, it’s all part of the package.

“The traveling’s just something you have to deal with,” Wynn says. “If a person were to go in a town ahead of time and wanted to see something, they could work it in. Usually, the only thing you want to see is a pillow and a channel changer.”

While the time away from his #family can be grueling, there are, of course, many things to love about having an #office on the links, including the great courses he gets to attempt to conquer.

“The U.S. Open’s always a great #tournament because you know it’s going to be difficult,” Wynn says. “There’s gonna be tons of people there, just waiting for you to screw up. #PebbleBeach, you go out there and you go, ‘Okay, what are we gonna see today?’ I enjoy anyplace where it’s a good old-fashioned course as opposed to some of the new courses where they just make them long because that’s what they have to do.”
