It was #July when I visited with high temperatures in the 40s in #Marrakech. I knew it was going to be hot but no one told me about the sandstorms in the city! We were caught in a pretty wild one while outside one evening. We ventured out by ourselves and walked from our #riad in the old part of town into the #Medina to catch a taxi to the restaurant for #dinner. Gusts of heavy winds threw dust and sand around us, rushing through like a white-out blanketing the street! We quickly closed our eyes and hopped in the first taxi. When we arrived at the restaurant we were told the roof was closed due to the #sandstorm. So much for the #rooftop dining.
While shopping in one of the old souks, my friend Rachel and I reluctantly followed a guide who found us lost, tired and hungry in the middle of the day. We meandered narrow passages and was eventually led to the dining room of this grand Pasha's mansion. Lunch was mediocre but but this amazing place more than made up for the less than stellar food and service. To this day, I don't remember the name of the place, only that it was #magical.
The delights of getting lost in the #souk...and finding this #magnificent Pasha's #palace!
Delightful in every way!
A magnificent tiled courtyard and of course there is a #fountain in the middle!
One #treasure of a room that leads into another...
Another amazing fountain! I lost count at this point.
One more fountain with incredible #mosaic tiles. #artistry #intricacy #beauty #color #pattern
