One of the biggest goals for many people is to travel, and the world is full of beautiful places to visit.

Traveling brings about a plethora of opportunities and experiences, so why not book a holiday and hop on the next plane, boat, coach or train?

In no particular order, here are 25 places to visit in the world in your life.

(Side note: this is not an exhaustive list!)

1. London, UK

London is not just the capital of the UK — it’s one of the capitals of the world, so much so that the cosmopolitan city doesn’t need much of an introduction. Enriched in culture, heritage and diversity, London is definitely one of the best cities in the world to visit for sightseeing, tasting a variety of cuisines and exploring the city’s history.

2. New York City, USA

New York City is one of the greatest metropolitan cities in the world. Visit for food, sports, music, culture and landmarks (e.g. the Empire State Building.)

3. Bali

Bali is paradise on Earth. It is an island that consists of breathtaking views, beaches, coral reefs, meditation retreats and pure blue seas.

4. Thailand

Thailand is one of the most popular places in the world for tourists, travelers and holidaymakers. It is famous for its spiciest dishes, luxurious hotels, warm climate and Buddha statues.

5. Lisbon, Portugal

Lisbon has a warm Mediterranean climate and plenty of sandy beaches. It is also a city with a standard of living that’s affordable so travellers can get good value for money and there are plenty of activities you can get your teeth into when you visit this vibrant city.

6. Barcelona, Spain

If you are in the mood for a touch of Spain but you don’t want the ‘typical’ tourist experience, visiting Barcelona is your best bet. Aside from Catalonian cuisine and famous sports clubs, Barcelona has a huge number of world heritage sights for history buffs.

7. Amsterdam, The Netherlands

Famed for its canals, Amsterdam is a city located around a dam in the Amstel river. While it’s slightly suburban, it is famous for its artistic heritage and its cycling culture.

8. Marrakesh, Morocco

Marrakesh is a city located in the west of Morocco. It is a city that thrives on traditional and Arabic culture that consists of Islam, spicy food, textiles, pottery and jewelry.

9. Paris, France

As well as being the capital of France, Paris is a major European and global city. It is a beautiful for its landmarks, designer boutiques and cafe culture, and it’s well-respected for the arts and fashion.

10. The Gold Coast, Australia

If you are looking to travel to a region in the world with truly spectacular and awe-inspiring views, then fly over to The Gold Coast. Go surfing in the blue seas, take a walk along the long golden sandy beaches or have fun at the local resorts and theme parks.

11. Bora Bora

For those who love to scuba dive and for those who are fascinated by coral reefs, Bora Bora is like a tropical place of heaven on Earth, with the most beautiful view and the blue lagoons of the region.

12. Berlin, Germany

Berlin is a place with a cultural edge and an interesting (and checkered) history. It’s vibrant and lively, with many place to see and explore, especially if you are particularly interested in art, design and technology.

13. Mykonos, Greece

Mykonos has become a favorite destination for many holidaymakers, thanks to the number of digital and social media influencers who have posted about their trip there. It is a very glamourous island that is full of pretty white buildings and landmarks as well as a Mediterranean culture and its summer party atmosphere.

Malta is located in the central part of the Mediterranean between Sicily and the North African coast. It is a great place for sun, sea and a culture influenced by ancient history and Britain’s past influence.

15. Alberta, Canada

If you enjoy skiing, then take a trip to Alberta. There are plenty of world-class slopes and the temperature is cool enough to ski. It is also a place with beautiful landscapes and cottages for the perfect retreat.

16. Turks and Caicos

Turks and Caicos is the ideal tropical destination for those looking for luxury and sunshine. It is truly beautiful and exotic, with plenty of resorts, shops, restaurants, scuba-diving sites and sandy beaches.

Brazil is one of the biggest countries in Latin America that’s rich in culture, which consists of carnivals, football, beaches, music and the Christ the Redeemer statue.

18. Cuba

While some may be reluctant to visit Cuba as a result of communist rule, Cuba is a pretty and quaint place to visit, with its Salsa music, Spanish-colonial architecture, pastel houses and 1950s-era cars. As it’s located in the Caribbean, expect to experience some wonderful sunshine.

19. Edinburgh

Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland, is a place with a medieval touch. It has a lot to offer for a quaint and compact city, such as historical buildings, gardens, monuments and memorials.

20. Glasgow

If you are more interested in the arts, then Glasgow is an alternative to Edinburgh. Glasgow is a metropolitan city with a vibrant music scene and nightlife as well as a plethora of museums and sites for art and design lovers.

21. Mexico

Obviously, one of the most important reasons to visit Mexico is for the authentic cuisine, right? Who doesn’t love fajitas and burritos? As well as gaining a taste of Spanish influence, you can also experience the indigenous cultural practices of Mexico too.

22. Barbados

Like many Caribbean nations, Barbados — the birthplace of singer Rihanna — has beautiful beaches, lovely weather and British influences, including afternoon tea and cricket. It is a wonderful place to explore and relax, with plenty of resorts to reside in.

23. Jamaica

Similar to Barbados, Jamaica is full of pretty beaches, Caribbean cuisine and plenty of resorts where you can soak up some sun and relax.

24. Peru

While Peru is like many other South American countries, it is a mountainous place that is ideal for those who feel at one with nature and are interested in trekking. If you want to explore a city, visit the capital city, Lima.

25. South Africa

The birthplace of Nelson Mandela and one of the fastest growing economies in Africa and in the world, South Africa has a lot to offer. One can explore Cape Town, one of the best cities in the world, or take a tour of the wildlife and go on a safari.
