Kylie Jenner’s show is apparently a total disaster

Love them or hate them, the Kardashians have been dominating reality TV for over a decade, which feels like a lifetime in the ever-changing celebrity and pop culture landscape.

But even though their flagship show “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” continues to dominate in the ratings even as it inches towards its 14th season, it seems not everybody wants to “keep up” with the youngest of the Kardashian-Jenner crew, Kylie Jenner.

Jenner has cemented herself as a social media queen and multimillion dollar beauty mogul (her company, Kylie Cosmetics, is expected to be a billion dollar company by 2022), but it seems the newly-minted 20-year-old alone doesn’t automatically translate to reality TV gold, based on new reports about her fledgling E! Series “Life of Kylie.”

Tabloid reports have suggested that the show, which began airing earlier this month, are a “disaster,” with critics bashing the show as feeling “too engineered,” and that it serves as merely a promotional effort for her social media and beauty business and less about giving fans a real glimpse into...the actual life of Kylie.

In the debut episode, Jenner is heard lamenting about how she just never finds the time to driver her Lamborghini, driving one of her many other cars instead. Of course, watching the rich and famous deal with their hilariously first-world problems usually does create insanely watchable reality TV moments (see: any “Real Housewives” episode ever), but critics and fans alike agreed it feels particularly disingenuous and tone deaf when it comes to Jenner.

Before the first episode even aired, tabloid rumors suggested that production on the series was a disaster, with Jenner reportedly refusing to film at times, and now sources report that E! Is desperately trying to figure out how to salvage the show and give it a much-needed boost from critics.

Only time will tell if die-hard Kardashian/Jenner fans continue tuning in to see the “life of Kylie” unfold, but in an era where you can see just as much by clicking on her Snapchat, Instagram, and Twitter feed, it seems more likely that a reality show is the slowest way to “keep up” with Jenner.

Even if the show is ultimately cancelled, at least she has close to a billion dollars to dry her tears with.

Stay tuned...

Before his untimely and tragic death last month, Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington filmed an episode of "Carpool Karaoke: The Series" for Apple Music with his bandmates, which was scheduled to be released sometime in the coming months.

The episode was reportedly filmed on July 14, just days before Bennington’s death on July 20. In the wake of his passing, Linkin Park cancelled their Linkin Park One More Light North American Tour, which still had 28 tour dates around the country and was scheduled to continue through early November.

Now, the future of Bennington’s appearance "Carpool Karaoke: The Series" remains up to Bennington’s family, according to series host James Corden.

The late-night host parlayed the runaway success of his show’s Carpool Karaoke segment in which everyone from Mariah Carey to Michelle Obama join him for a karaoke session in the car, teaming up with Apple Music to release exclusive episodes of the series.

The first episode, which dropped August 8, teamed Corden up with Will Smith. It’s unclear when Linkin Park was scheduled to appear on the show, but Corden revealed he is leaving the decision to air up to Bennington’s family members and bandmates.

Speaking with the Associated Press, Corden said: "We will approach it in whichever manner his family or the people that were involved in that episode, however they would like it to be handled. We will navigate it as delicately as possible and just adhere to whatever wishes they would want because I don’t think there’s any other way we could deal with it, really. It's completely up to them and that's a conversation we haven't even thought about having right now... It’s a tragedy.”

Bennington’s wife, Talinda Bennington, took to Twitter to thank Corden for his response, and no decision has been made on the episode just yet.

Other stars slated to appear on the series include John Legend, Alicia Keys, Metallica, Will Smith, Blake Shelton, Chelsea Handler, and many more.
