Kim K’s Yeezy PR Drive Likely To Make Hubby's Line A Sell Out
The queen of self promotion has been at it again. Yes, Kim Kardashian is pushing hubby Kanye West’s newest Yeezy drop for Season Six of the “West - Adidas Originals” collaboration. On Tuesday, she wore a grand total of nine Yeezy looks in one day! The woman is a literal clothes horse, but what better way to ensure that the items sell out instantly when they are released. While fans anxiously await the new collection, Kim has sneakily been showcasing the looks for months.
Kanye’s Yeezy line has been a huge success from day one, helped of course by Kardashians’ endorsement from all the family members. Season One debuted the now infamous Yeezy 750 Boost and was billed as a uniform for modern life designed with an eye for quality, universality, and ease. Season One showcased a neutral palette with military foundations; it was a lineup of oversized jackets, sweatshirts, sweaters, and leggings. Over nude-colored underwear, camo featured heavily, with the highlight being a camo parka that Kim Kardashian also wore.
For Season Two, not much changed. Kanye sent a choreographed army of models down the runway. Layering was key on distressed fabrics and raw, unfinished hemlines. Minimal was the order of the day and the nude palette still strong. Nude, khaki, and clay made for uniform looks barely distinguishable from one another. Season Two was super low-key with no strong pieces. But it did see the introduction of the Lucite sandal, a key piece of footwear that has so far featured in every season thereafter. The Perspex sandal is worn often by Kim and is an incredibly flattering shoe that gives the illusion of longer legs.
Season Three was still utilitarian, but an injection of colour stepped things up a notch: orange was the new black.
For Season Four, Kanye dropped the Yeezy Boost 350 v2 Zebra, further cementing these kicks as the most coveted in fashion. West and wife drew attention to new styles from the collection by stepping out on date night in his and her Yeezys. Kim was wearing the latest spin on the Lucite heel, a sculptural mule completely see-through,
paired with a simple neutral top and shredded jeans, while West sported a pair of Yeezys upping the fashion quotient by raising the tone for a sleeker and more secure finish.
Onto Season Five and the clothes in this year’s collection were designed with a Calabasas theme, and featured oversize coats, knee-high boots, and graphic long-sleeved T-shirts. Season Six was originally thought to have been launched at New York Fashion Week in September, but Kanye once again bucked the trend, and it is thought he will launch in a showroom in Paris next year. Quite a comedown after the previous shows, including the huge Madison Square Garden launch and last year’s disastrous Roosevelt Island Show, when guests were made to wait outside for an hour for the show to start.
But we already had a mini fashion show this week, with Kim’s epic 9 outfit Yeezy spectacular —
all of Kim’s looks demonstrated major neutral vibes, which have become a mainstay of West’s collections.
She has also been rocking the new Mud Rat 500 kicks, which we assume will be part of the Yeezy Season 6 footwear range. In these photos from Tuesday, Kim wore sweats, tanks, hoodies, skirts and a hooded shearling jacket. In a streamlined color palette of dust blues, blacks, greys and light tans, there was a real laid-back 90s vibe in the outfits: “sexy sports luxe” is definitely heading to a high street near you soon, such is the influence of Kardashian on mainstream fashion trends.
Kardashian’s Yeezy reveal continues to fuel mystery and anticipation as West has yet to announce exactly when he will be showing the sixth installment of his line. But whenever the collection finally goes on sale, you can be sure it will be an instant sell-out.With this kind of free PR from one of the most famous women in the world how could it not?
