This Is Why The Phones In 2018 Will Be Super Fast
Qualcomm's Snapdragon 845 CPU is Speeding Things Up
Qualcomm just showed off its latest Snapdragon 845 CPU to journalists and it was found to run a hefty 25 percent faster than last year's model. That means new phones for 2018, like the Samsung Galaxy S9, could be that much faster than the previous year's models.
Samsung’s Galaxy S9 is expected to be the first phone to get the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 CPU in 2018. Qualcomm showed the new chip running 25 percent faster than last year's Snapdragon 835 CPU.
The tests measured raw computing power and graphical performance across 12 benchmarking tests. They were found, by CNET, in many cases to actually exceed that 25 percent performance enhancement.
Qualcomm claims that the new Snapdragon 845 CPU will not only enhance speeds for things like web browsing or app opening but it will also give more colors in graphical performances, enhance biometric security and even manage to extend the battery life of the device too.
Of course all this was found from benchmarking tests using devices built for the test. In the real world that 25 percent increase of performance may not be quite so high, but it should be close.
Expect to see this new chip in action at the Samsung Galaxy S9 reveal on 25 February before appearing in plenty more phones throughout the year.
