July 4, 2016

Delrawn Small, a 37-year-old black father, and Wayne Isaacs, an off-duty white cop, get into a near-collision on Atlantic Ave and Bradford Street in Brooklyn.

Isaacs fires two shots through his car window at  Delrawn, who dies in the street while his girlfriend and two children are in his car.

The New York Post deems the shooting a case of unprovoked rage. 

July 5, 2016

A homeless man repeatedly asks Alton Sterling, a black man selling CDs outside of a convenience store in Louisiana, for money. Sterling says no, and flashes his gun in warning. The homeless man calls 911.

Two white police officers arrive on the scene and shoot Alton Sterling multiple times. Sterling dies on the sidewalk.

July 6, 2016

A white police officer pulls over a black couple in Falcon Heights, Minnesota for a broken tail light. The confrontation ends with the black man in the car, Philando Castile, shot dead in the passenger seat.

As Castile takes his last breaths, his girlfriend broadcasts the scene live on Facebook.

A black man’s body is found hanging from a tree in Atlanta’s Piedmont Park. People on social media speculate KKK involvement, while the police say these claims are unfounded and lean towards a suicide.

Protestors take to the streets. In New York, around one thousand demonstrators march from Union Square to Times Square.
