Three 'Hamilton' moments to get you hyped about the Tony Awards
The 70th Annual Tony Awards will air this Sunday, June 12th at 8/7c live on CBS, and Hamilton has received a record-setting 16 nominations. If you think that fervor is dying down any time soon, we're here to tell you that it's definitely not.
So without further ado, here's a trio of things to help get you excited about what's probably going to be an insane night on Sunday.
ONE: Everyone's favorite late-night Carpool Karaoke runner James Corden is this year's host, so of course he couldn't pass up the opportunity to get Lin-Manuel Miranda and a few close Broadway friends in his Range Rover. If you end up with this on loop, know that a) we won't judge you, and b) we'll still be here when you get back. HOLY CRAP, AUDRA MCDONALD.
TWO: CBS posted a 360-degree video of the Hamilton cast practicing "Wait For It" for the Tonys. You'll need to watch in Chrome or Firefox, but if you love the show, it's worth it.
THREE: Artist Arielle Jovellanos created the #Ham4Pamphlet project after she was invited backstage at Hamilton and wanted to bring the cast something special. She got in touch with a bunch of other artists and illustrators to put together a 45-illustration pamphlet to go with the 46 tracks that make up Hamilton.
The artwork is nothing short of stunning, especially if you know the songs that each piece is meant to accompany.
"Aaron Burr, Sir" by Rebecca Mock.
"Guns and Ships" by Claire Hummel
"Yorktown (The World Turned Upside Down)" by Catherine Esguerra
Jovellanos has no plans to reprint this pamphlet beyond the copies she gave to every single member of the Hamilton cast, but you can view all 45 pieces here.
Get ready to celebrate some well-deserved wins on Sunday night!
