Aleppo, SOS, biz conflicts, or Kanye? Let's go with Kanye
Was today's meeting of Trump and Kanye West about headlining the apocalypse?, asks Laura Jane Grace, who is the frontwoman of a band and a book author. She asked, but we're all wondering it.
The musical star has not been very visible since his recent hospitalization for mental health issues. Right before that hospitalization, he said on stage in San Jose that he would have voted for Trump if he voted (it was reported the crowd booed him). And he's already declared intention to run for president in 2020 -- he's pushed that to 2024 after today's meeting. West says he and Trump talked multicultural issues, and bullying and education in Chicago.
Maybe they talked about a performance at the inauguration, which Trump's team is reportedly having difficulty booking musical acts for, with most big stars being Clinton supporters. Whatever it was about, the meeting caused a media frenzy on the same day Newsweek published an investigative piece on Trump's business conflicts. Yesterday Trump cancelled the planned press conference to detail his plan for transitioning his businesses, postponing it til January and after the Electoral College meets to elect him.
Meanwhile, "Syria's Stalingrad" -- Aleppo -- is falling, Trump picked the Exxon Mobil CEO as Secretary of State, and ABC television "World News Tonight" goes for Kanye. The other network news biggies, NBC and CBS chose to start the hour with the SOS and Aleppo.
Watch the side bump heard around the world. Trump says they've been friends a long time.
As startling as the meeting was, this blonde theme has been growing for a while...Kanye this week was revealed as a producer on the credits of fellow musician and blonde-haired Frank Ocean's album "Blonde".
...or read about other Trump ties around the world that Kurt Eichenwald at Newsweek reports are "already jeopardizing U.S. interests."
One goodbye from Aleppo, there have been many:
