Serena Williams
, 35, and her  fiancé Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, 33, announced their engagement, where else, but social media late yesterday afternoon. First, Serena wrote a little poem in the Reddit “I Said Yes” (/r/isaidyes) forum.

“I came home. A little late. Someone had a bag packed for me. And a carriage waited. Destination: Rome. To escort me to my very own ‘charming.’ Back to where our stars first collided. And now it was full circle. At the same table we first met by chance. But by choice. Down on knee. He said 4 words. And I said yes.”

Underneath her announcement, Ohanian posted a cartoon of the duo and wrote underneath it,

“And you made me the happiest man on the planet.

Edit: you're also a really cute Snoo. As I was drawing this for you, I thought, "our Snoos should go out on a date sometime."

Fans of the two immediately jumped in congratulating the newly engaged couple and left comments under their original post. User JenniePeterson was the first to comment. She wrote, ”congrats :) You will immediately be asked if you have a date and each of your families will ask how many people they can invite. Good luck. Edit: something-something the Wigglestonthefourth score is love-love.”

Ohanian covered all bases by also writing on his Facebook page, “She said yes,” and linking back to Williams’s post on Reddit.

The two, who have been dating since late 2015, have been relatively quiet about their relationship over the past year, apart from a few Instagram posts. They were vacationing in Rome when he popped the question. Their vacation was cut short by work; later that same night, Williams boarded a plane to New Zealand where she will be competing in the ASB Classic Tennis Tournament next week.

Williams has won 22 Grand Slam singles titles, tying with Steffi Graf, and another 16 in doubles. She is widely considered one of the greatest tennis players of all time.
