How do you feel about motorcycling? Do you love it so much that you can’t imagine your life without it? Or maybe it’s just a fun thing you do once in awhile. Maybe you don’t know anything about it other than what you’ve seen on TV and in movies.

As a content producer, how do you address such a disparate audience within a niche like this? I'm going to answer that today, using the Topaz channel I built here on Storia as an example. If the topic you are covering has lots of different audiences, that's where Story Folders truly enable your storytelling superpower.
It’s crucial to know as much as you can about your chosen niche (or else to enlist the help of someone who does) before you take this approach. Readers are smart, and they can instinctively sense when you’re passionate about what you’re writing. When you go deep into any niche, you need that passion to propel you along into your readers’ hearts.
CHOOSE POWERFUL IMAGES FOR YOUR STORY FOLDERS
Each Story Folder has a space for you to write a short description, but your chosen image should tell readers about a folder before they even read a word. CHOOSE YOUR FOCUS FOR EACH FOLDER
Social media is fascinating, because you’re able to change and ebb and flow everything with much more ease than you ever could in print. Use that to your advantage. Think about what each facet of your chosen niche needs, and how best to tell that story. You have to write good chapters to get a good book, don’t you?
In our story Mind-Blowing Customs, we want to focus not only on the unbelievable custom bikes that some builders (both professional and hobbyist) are building. We also wanted to focus on the human elements behind their pieces of art.
Motorcycles can be living, breathing art, and knowing the wonderfully human stories behind them really brings that home.
MOTO FESTIVALS: BECAUSE EVERYONE LOVES A GOOD PARTY
There are so many motorcycle festivals across the land that even if Sturgis or Daytona doesn’t seem like your scene, you can probably find something closer to home that hits the right notes for you. Fun places to see and be seen with your ride. Even if you’re not on a bike right now, it’s a good place to do some homework and think about the bike you want. We collaborated with @CultureVulture on it since it’s a festival story, and @CultureVulture does like to party.
BRINGING NEW RIDERS INTO THE SCENE
Every so often, you see a piece (usually written by someone outside the motorcycling world) lamenting the fact that aging motorcyclists (almost always code for Harley owners in those pieces) are hanging up their chaps, selling their bikes, and aging out of their two-wheeled pasttime. To some extent, that’s true. Various people stop riding every year, for any number of reasons (including age and health).
But it’s important to remember that there have always been other riders who don’t fit that narrative. Women, riders of color, women who are riders of color…you name it. TWG strives to reflect and encourage this.
We firmly believe that if you want to ride and are physically able to do so, it’s a fantastic way to move through life. Period. Plus, more motorcycles on the road instead of cars = less congestion and theoretically a less stressed-out populace. What’s not to love?
Just like anything else, the motorcycle industry has trends that are worth investigating, particularly if you’re a business that caters to motorcyclists. Sometimes a story presents itself that allows you to analyze business strategy in a motorcycling context, so you take it.
WHAT EVERY BIKE OWNER NEEDS TO KNOW
Meet a group of motorcyclists and you’re likely to find a higher percentage of at least somewhat mechanically inclined people than you would in the general public. Some riders consider their credit card and a cell phone to be a good toolkit for roadside repairs, but others travel with obsessively packed tool kits so they can do everything themselves.
It’s a universal fact that all types of riders need to change their oil at regular intervals, as well as do certain other basic maintenance. Much like with a car, there’s routine maintenance involved with motorcycle ownership, so we’re here to break that down and keep you on the road.
WHEN I’M NOT RIDING, I’M THINKING ABOUT RIDING
Unless you’re Ewan McGregor making another motorcycling documentary, chances are good you spend a lot of time parked. If you’re like every other rider we know, you’re still thinking about bikes at least half of that time.
