Actor Danny Masterson Officially Fired By Netflix After Rape Allegations

Danny Masterson, star of That 70’s Show and Netflix’s The Ranch has officially been fired and his character written off of the Netflix show after four women have come forward accusing the actor of violently raping them 16 years ago.

Police have been investigating at least of one the accuser’s cases for about a year now, but the firing only happened after there was a controversy between the accuser in question and Netflix executive Andy Yeatman.

The controversy in question stems from a conversation between Yeatman and one of the alleged victims while they were both watching their children’s soccer matches this past Saturday. It is important to state that at the start of the accusation, Yeatman did not know that the woman was herself, one of the accusers.

During the match, the accuser approached Yeatman and asked what Netflix planned on doing about the four women accusing Danny Masterson of rape. Yeatman responded by telling the woman that in this case, “we don’t believe them.”

It was at that point that the woman revealed herself as one of the accusers. Upon learning that, Yeatman approached her again after the conclusion of the soccer match and tried to clear the air while explaining that he, personally, had no say in Netflix’s decision.

He also told the woman that he would have responded differently had he known that she was one of the accusers. The woman was understandably disturbed, saying: “I hope no one ever says that to your daughter.”

She continued by saying that “Netflix is going to regret this, this is a mistake, they’re going to see.” According to her statement, Yeatman then told the woman in a condescending tone that “we’ll see.”

Later on, Netflix denied that Yeatman had ever made such comments, adding that: “We are aware of the allegations against Danny Masterson and we are following the current investigation and will respond if developments occur.”

In response to the Netflix statement, one of Masterson’s accusers replied in a tweet that simply read: “we’ll see.”

To add another level of controversy to the matter, three of the accusers in question were Scientologists at the time of the assaults. When one of the women came forward, the Church responded by having several of their members file reports stating that the woman was a liar.

In response to these allegations, the Church responded by releasing a statement saying: “The Church of Scientology has no practice or policy forbidding the reporting of criminal wrongdoing allegedly committed by Scientologists or anyone else, nor does the Church expel, let alone punish, members who report crimes.”

Masterson and his team have long been denying the allegations. His publicist, Jenni Weinman has stated that the accuser’s “claims coming after almost 16 years were surprising and shocking to say the least.”

She continued by stating that “my conversation with any alleged victim came from a place of sincerity, and curiosity as to why they would wait and why now, it just seemed so illogical.”

Masterson’s wife has also struck out at the accuser by sending an email to the victim’s husband blaming the woman for entrapping her husband, adding, “I hope it was worth it for you guys to hurt innocent people.”

As for Masterson himself, he wrote a statement to the Huffington Post where he pleads his innocence, stating: “I am obviously very disappointed in Netflix's decision to write my character off of The Ranch.

“From day one, I have denied the outrageous allegations against me. Law enforcement investigated these claims more than 15 years ago and determined them to be without merit.”

He also added that he has never been charged with a crime and that in the current climate, “it seems as if you are presumed guilty the moment you are accused.”

Netflix released their own statement confirming that Masterson was to be written off of The Ranch and that the show would resume production in 2018 without him.
