Lou Diamond Phillips Arrested For Drunk Driving
Actor Lou Actor Lou Diamond Phillips was arrested early Friday morning after mistakenly asking a police officer for directions. The only problem...he was driving drunk.
The star, who is most famous for playing Ritchie Valens in the biographical drama film La Bamba, starring in the Young Guns movies, and receiving an Academy Award nomination for his role in Stand and Deliver, was driving around in Portland, Texas when he got lost.
He pulled over to ask a local police officer for directions, and that is when the officer saw that Phillips was noticeably intoxicated.
The officer ordered a field sobriety test onsite and when the actor failed that, he was handcuffed and brought to the station where he took a breathalyzer test and blew a .20 — over two times the legal limit of .08.
After spending several hours in jail, he was released earlier today at 11 a.m. on $2,500 bail.
Phillips is in town to attend the “Voices of South Texas – Old Bayview Cemetery Comes Alive” kick-off event on Friday at Heritage Park in Corpus Christi, where he was to be a guest speaker.
"There are no changes to our program currently. We are in contact with his agents, and we will be having conversations with them later,” said event planner Jay Ellington.
Friday morning was a busy time for our nation’s law enforcement and the celebrities that we love.

When cops finally caught up with him (he was going 100 mph in a 50 mph zone), they arrested him and charged him with 15 crimes, including driving without a valid license, speeding, and a DUI among others.
He blew a .09 which is also over the legal limit. He was jailed but has also since bailed out.
