A Moment That Changed My Life
I am John and I’ve been going to the gym three days a week for five months. Here’s what made me do this. I came back from a holiday and a few of photos revealed something. There were different parts oozing out from the skin of my body. When I was younger I dismissed people who went to the gym as Meatheads. This is probably the dumbest thing I’ve ever admitted. The lifestyle I had chosen a pound shape weekend warrior never made me happy. I simply ran out of energy to do normal things such as cook or read or work.
Eventually, after a holiday, I decided to join a gym. I did not want to look the way I did and mostly I didn’t want to feel the way I did. Now, for me going to the gym is not a simple matter of working out, it is a complex and religious pursuit. I am a gym person now. I get up in a cold sweat thinking that I’ve missed leg day. I started buying chicken and in bulk and cooking at home. Pain becomes a friend – after a long time avoiding it, I’m embracing it now. I go on the same days every week.
The most wondrous thing about joining a gym hasn’t even the way it changes the way I look on the outside but how it alters every detail of the inner part. It’s not something they sell you, it’s an unquantifiable free bonus.
