February Notes on 'Cloud Atlas' by David Mitchell

Wow, what a book that divided our group! there was no grey area at our February meeting. People either LOVED the book, or HATED it.

It could be argued that this sci-fi book set during many different times and places both past and present, is actually six short books rolled into one. A reader who loved the book compared it to different parts of an orchestra, which play ok separately but create magic when played together.

A lively discussion ensued, as each side tried to change the other side's mind, and make them either love or hate the book as well. We had to call a truce. As a result, we gave the book 3 out of 5 stars, showing our middle ground.
